Amidst the grand backdrop of the towering skyscapers in the financial hub and mesmerizing riverfront at Empress Place , IndoChine Waterfront is a swanky restaurant which offers authentic IndoChinese cuisines. Since its opening, IndoChine Waterfront has charmed its patrons and received overwhelming response such that at times, diners have to reserve seats up to three days in advance. The repute of IndoChine Waterfront has traveled far and wide that in January 2007, even delegates from Laotian who were invited to Singapore had to make a trip to IndoChine Waterfront to have a taste of its remarkable cuisines.
The Vibe The view across the Singapore River makes for an amorous evening where one can indulge in a moment of sentimentality. The spacious dining area behind the glass doors is embellished with Sukothai Buddhist figurines and relics. Complementing its exotic décor are custom-made stainless steel and leather Ming Dynasty style chairs with plush silk cushions of oriental designs. Two large flower-shaped crystal chandeliers cascade elegantly from the lofty ceilings while the gentle subdued lightings enhance the sensuous setting. As the night draws, the dining area becomes a charming sight as pretty candle lights line the tables.
The Food At IndoChine Waterfront Restaurant, patrons enjoy both a visual and gastronomic feast. Highly commendable is the Vit Quay Gion Ton Kin ($34) which is a dish of French duck fillets grilled with herbs and spices. It is served with crispy rice noodles and IndoChine's special aromatic sweet sauce. The duck fillets, thinly sliced and extremely tender, goes really well with the mouth-watering sweet sauce.
The Trio Seafood with Khmer Tamarind Sauce ($38), which refers to the combination of pan-fried sea bass fillets, scallops and prawns, is also a crowd-pleaser. Drizzled with an exotic tamarind caramel sauce with roasted cashew nuts and sesame seeds which is a excellent complement to the seafood, it leaves you with a sweet tangy taste. The seafood is also generally fresh, especially the scallops which are large and has a delicately mild, sweet flavor.
Before you leave, remember to round up your satisfying meal with a jolt of Vietnamese Coffee. Be patient as the coffee takes some time to drip from the special filter, but you will be duly rewarded for your patience with a cup of remarkably aromatic and flavorful Vietnamese coffee which is guaranteed to make you come back for more.
The Service Professionally trained, the service staff are polite in serving the diners. Perhaps because most of the staff are non-locals, they are not as confident in providing a more personal service such as finding out the preference of its diners.
The SD Food Advisor's take on IndoChine Waterfront Restaurant One can easily tell that no expense was spared when it came to making sure that the ambience is excellent for the diners. However, the prices at Waterfront is considered one of the highest amongst its other sister restaurants and thus, it will probably not be an everyday affair to dine here. However, with such impeccable ambience and food, it is no wonder that so many people are willing to pay a premium to enjoy what IndoChine Waterfront Restaurant has to offer.
