About the restaurant:
My boyfriend made a reservation for 6 people on Saturday 23rd June. Since we'd dined at your restaurant on 3 previous occasions and had enjoyed the highest standards of cuisine and service, we recommended Coriander Leaf for a family reunion dinner as his parents were in Singapore on holiday, as were his aunty and uncle from the UK.
We were seated at 8.10pm and were given menus and water. We had to call the staff back to give our order.
Our orders were placed. We waited for 45 minutes before the 2 set-meal first courses arrived and we had to remind the table staff to bring the wines that went along with these first courses. Another 20 minutes elapsed before the crab cakes arrived along with the a la carte appetisers. We had to continually ask for staff to fill up the water, bring the wines etc, if we could find one of them free. This was the routine for the rest of the night.
It was over 90 minutes since sitting down that my boyfriend's father's (and poor soul, he didn't order any appetisers so was starving by then)Angus steak was served and this proved to be disappointing as well. It was tough and definitely not worth the wait or the price.
I got up twice to approach the manager to ask the status of our meals. The waiting staff were pleasant and polite but were not available for most of the evening. We got used to pouring our own wine etc.
After 3 hours of this we decided to leave. The deserts were served at different times and in the end we had to cancel a desert because it was still five minutes away from being ready and the rest of us had finished. We went back to the Fullerton Hotel for coffee and desert, simply to assure our relatives that you can still get good service in Singapore.
As a big fan of your restaurant in the past, you can imagine the disappointment I feel from this most recent experience. I was previously a vocal advocate for your excellent level of service and cuisine.
After Saturday night, I was frankly embarassed.
I trust that this was a one-off, unfortunate incident.
Ordered Food:
squid ink ravioli and lamb rack. I ordered medium , but it came out almost rare and bloody.
