About the restaurant:
The deco is clean and chic.
Just what i like in a restaurant.
The sound system is rather unique as it does not interfer with our conversation but there when u listen to it.
The choise of music is execllent i must say as it put us into a relax mood without being too sleepy.
The spacing between the table is desent as i have no desire to listen to the next table's conversation or smell their food.
Ordered Food:
First surprise was that they have happy hour if you ask even on a Friday evening.
We had the house white and red which was better than most restaurant or even hotel.
For starter we had fresh oysters and the goose liver. The oysters are freshly opened and much larger than the usual size we see in hotel buffet. The sweetness is one of the best i have ever tried. For the liver, it portion is generous, i would suggest you share it. The Rhubab with the cripy liver is new to me but i am glad i ordered, the pairing is excellent.
The Japanese Chicken was the main reason we came here and it did not disappoint.
The chicken confit was soft to the bone and the meat was full without being faty.
The smoked chicken leg with the ginger sauce was the first time i tasted smoked meat without any salty taste. On checking with the staff, it seems that the chef smokes it daily without brine. The best dish for the evenning. At $ 19.90 excellent value for the dish with the work the chef went thru to get it right.
The portion was good size but not too much till we cannot get any dessert.
My verdict:
Will be back ASAP to try the other two chicken dishes.
It is very unusal to get 4 choices of chicken on the menu.
The chicken they use is rather special.
Cannot remember if they fly in from Japan or why they call it Japanese chicken.
Got myself two FREE dessert wine from the restaurant manager after i told him the food was really excellent. Other restaurant usually offer you something free when you complain about something.
About the restaurant:
Cool deco, comfy, super friendly service staff that do not hard sell.
The private parking is a big help as the building's parking lot was full.
Ordered Food:
The jumbo oysters are a MUST try. Have not had such juicy oysters in Singapore for a long time. Matches perfectly with the house white. Took a nible of my gf's salad which she almost did not want to share as it was really good. Fresh and refreshing.
For mains we had the squid ink pasta & tenderloin. Vincent our waiter keep telling my gf to chew the tenderloin which was unusual advise but was spot on the money. The flavour was execellent and sauce at the side did not interface with the taste of the meat. The pasta was excellent as it has flavour, no hint of msg and not too rich.
The choc cake was the best we ever had. 2nd piece of good advice from Vincent, do not share but order one each.
Cannot remember the red wine we order but it matches the main course.
My verdict:
Almost did not want to try as the we were not sure if the meal will be work the price with so many new places turned out to be disappointing.
We will be back. Great food with personal touch from the chef and waiter.
The temperate is not too cool which was great for my gf which complain that air con is freezing. This place is comfy in that area for both of us.
Cannot wait to try more of their wine list is like super big. The wine glass used is also very special in shape.
