About the restaurant:
nice decor, feel warm! with a lot of artifacts, an unique experience!
Ordered Food:
6 of us ordered set menu for 6 pax. A good combination include signature charcoal-grilled fish, special KangKong Cha, claypot mutton, chicken and BBQ squid. all foods are fresh. especially the fish, it is juicy and the taste is heavenly beautiful. Just nice for us. And, it coms with free buffet style dessert. It is really a buffet with more than 8 choices including the kueh, agar and ice cream....
My verdict:
we are regulars of this restaurant and will recommend more friends to there.
About the restaurant:
After a day of frantic shopping and walking, we decided to soothe our hunger pangs by scouting for a good restaurant to eat in around the Fountain Terrace area. The House of Sundanese caught my eye with its appetizing looking pictures on its menu laid open for all to drool at in front of its main entrance. The food resembled alot to one of my all time favourite Malay cuisine, and it was not long before my partner and I scurried in and took our respective seats at the nearest table. The decor and ambience is at first glance very balinese-like with alot of wicker and dark wood tones. It made me feel as if i was dining inside a rustic kampung house in an old malay village, complete with artistic touches of batik motifs around the restaurant.
Ordered Food:
We ordered the Kangkong Cha, Beef Rendang, Chicken Satay and Sotong Bakar (grill squid) for food, and the Air Jeruk Nipis (lime juice) as drinks. We were given a pleasant surprise when we had the option of either white rice or Nasi Kuning (yellow rice). Further testament to the restaurant's warm service was the free sampling of mee siam (which although tasted just ok, was a nice touch). Just a note also that the basket of keropok are not complimentary so munch with care!
My verdict:
Nice ambience, unpretentious service, earthy warm decor and good selection of authentic sundanese food. Will definitely come back whenever I have cravings for a good dose of Malay food!
Ordered Food:
Dinner set for one person, costing around $13-$15.
My verdict:
I came with a group of 6 persons. After going through the menu and the recommendation from a lady staff. We decided to go for a set for 1 person each (instead of a set for 2, a set for 4 and so on...). Immediately she shows her displeasure and sacarstically took down our orders. I am very very disappointed of the sudden change of her service. And regretted of not sticking to our original plan of visiting Riverside Indonesian Restaurant. Sigh.... Shouldn't we customer have the right of choice? Please comment.
