About the restaurant:
It looks nice and well decorated, it looks grand and very upscale. However, the service is terrible, despite our repeated attempt to get our food, we still had to wait 2 hours for it to come, and they still missed one of our orders.
Ordered Food:
Drinks, Starters and main courses (pasta and steak). They forgot about the steak. And the pasta was cold when we got it - after 2 hours of waiting.
My verdict:
After 1 hour of waiting, and despite constantly reminding the hard to find staff about our orders, they still took another 1 more hour (total 2 hours) to send us the COLD food. Claimed it was delayed because of rain earlier, and tried to make us feel guilty because we asked for a discount.
Don't ever go to Oosh unless you want to get your food late and cold, and be lied to. I was so embarassed I apologized to my foreign guests.
About the restaurant:
The ambiance of this restaurant is very nice. It is obviously new and very trendy. Its like transporting Little Bali to One Rochester. Nice water features surround the outdoor alfresco dining area. There are also private pavilions that can provide a nice setting for a group. The bar area is a bit dark at night with the low reclined resort style chairs that were not comfortable and too big for the space. One cannot sit into them whilst having a relaxing drink. The couches looked much more comfortable.
Ordered Food:
DRINKS
Firstly, the drink waiter was not familiar with the drinks on the drinks menu. Otherwise, the drinks seem to be $2 more expensive than similar establishments. Other friends have said that some bottles of wine are priced at 5 times what you can get retail.
APPETISERS
The "marinated kalmata olive and artichoke" had a mixture of kalmata and stuff green olive. There were only a few small pieces of artichoke.
The garlic mushrooms were tasty.
The tortilla with tomato and cilantro dip was actually good. The hand made toasted tortilla was very nice. At $5, it was the 2nd best dish of the night.
The "Laugen mini beef burger with foie gras" ($16) was filling but your fairly standard burger. Although juicy, it was nothing special.
MAINS
The "Chef Vegetarian special" was described by our waitress as "fried potato cakes". Thinking that we were going to sold a 80cents potato cake from an Australian fish and chip shop, we asked for more information which the waitress kindly did. She return to further describe the dish as "fried potato cakes with a side salad". Still unconvinced that it was that simple, we ordered it. For $16, it was the most appalling Chef Special we have ever seen unless the chef's name was Bird's Eye. The dish was 2 fried frozen potato patties with diced carrot and peas, good enough for your average kid (maybe).
Another request was for the steak and how many gram it was. The waitress did her best in showing the rough size of the cut of meat once cooked. Two diners ordered the steak but there were no special remark about either of them.
The Mushroom Pizza was definitely the highlight of the night. It was the most tasty with a mixture of 4 different mushrooms. At $16, it was reasonable.
My verdict:
The food missed the mark for the restaurant with such potential.
However, it must be said it was the poor service of the staff that will bring the demise of this new venture. No only was there lack of service but the quality of service (apart from our waitress who tried hard) was just not up to expectation.
Issue 1. As described, we were on uncomfortable chairs and it seems fair to move to the more comfortable couches after it was vacated by diners going to their table. But we were immediately told it was reserved after being told to 'sit anywhere in the bar' earlier was incredible.
Issue 2. Before our drinks and snacks arrived, we were told that our table was ready. Our bar orders never arrive to our table until 2 requests to check on the orders.
Issue 3. Our billing included a $8 tea that we never ordered.
Issue 4. A sad end to the evening was finding that I had left my phone at the restaurant. After calling 3 times the next day and was promised to return my call, I had to call the fourth time and then personally going there, to be told, unconvincingly that no staff had picked up the phone on the previous night by the surly staff, who on the previous evening profit much false charm to us as paying customers. Where is the customer service?
About the restaurant:
Very good ambience but pathetic service and staff.
Ordered Food:
Beef Steak
My verdict:
Absolutely pathetic service. They did not serve me my dinner even after 3 hours of wait. Everyone right from the waiters the supervisor and then the manager are all very good liars.
