Any type of dance move that is rated on a competitive level is considered as sport dancing and there are many dance moves involved in Olympic sports. Every ice skater must train using fluid moves that one might expect to find on a dance floor but instead these moves are orchestrated on a field of ice in an ice skating rink.

Many ice skaters will create various routines that they will use throughout the year in competitions that might take them coast to coast across the United States, and later to other areas of the world where music and dance originated. Sport dancing enthusiasts take their dancing very seriously and perform their exquisite moves so eloquently because they actually love what they are doing on the ice.

Some of the dance moves that are used in sport dancing will capture the hearts of a crowd. Other sport dancing moves have the power to reduce some people to tears because they are executed with such romance and emotion that crowds will become very emotional watching the move happen. There will be instances in a skaters program where the sport dancing movements will require the skater to bear a lot of weight for a short period of time. These sport dancing occasions occur when a skating must perform moves that require the female in pairs skating to be lifted over the head of their partner. Crowds will catch their breath when a skater is tossed by their partner to complete an ice skating maneuver.

The sport dancing will continue with couples joining together in a slow dance around the rink. Every move in their program has been delivered to the judges before the ice skaters begin their program so every move is sure to be judged throughout the ice dancing category that they are participating in. Some ice skaters prefer to limit their sport dancing to moves that create romance and that is the personal style that they stick with throughout their career as an ice skater.

Ice skaters are rated on the creativity of the sports dancing that is included in their entire program. They will be rated on the unique dancing moves that are recreated to perfection but ice skates are worn on the feet instead of ballroom dancing slippers. The skaters shoes will be used to accent certain moves during sport dancing and fans seem to love these times because they are jazzier and not filled with romance.
