Where to Stay in Blitar
- Tugu Hotel
The Tugu is a historical location from the 19th century giving a peek into the past in the otherwise modern town. The architectural assemblance is a Dutch colonial look and the scenic trees dotting the hotel are as majestically rich with history as the main attraction of this visual delight. Do not miss out on viewing the Sukarno Suite – it is big, drafty, has a large bed and interesting furniture like a desk with significant photographs. When the President was a young man, he used to frequent the hotel and surely there will be many stories regarding the hotel’s role in many of Sukarno’s activities. This curiosity can be easily satisfied from a chat with old Bapak Salman, who has worked there for forty years. You can also try the high tea in the traditional Javanese warung or have a taste of their award-winning food for lunch in the veranda.
- Sri Lestari
A great alternative to the Tugu Hotel when space runs low. This hotel is under the same management as Tugu and it is right next door.
